Stan Alba started working with glass in 1995 with Bob Snodgrass as a teacher and inspired by the pipes that he saw on Grateful Dead tour. After Jerry Garcia died pipemaking became a way to keep living the in the spirit of the Grateful Dead even after tour was over. In 1998 after his apprenticeship with Bob, Stan moved to Humboldt becoming one of the first Glassblowers in the area. He continues to make pipes in the mountains of Humboldt County one of the major hubs for amazing glass work twenty years later. He enjoys working with the local artists putting together collaborations.
